Sustainability

Beautiful roses, with
respect for tomorrow

At Van den Ende Roses, sustainability is the foundation of our work, not an afterthought. In three years, we have halved our CO₂ emissions. And we are not stopping there: we keep investing in new ways to grow even more cleanly.

Installation above the roses under energy-efficient LED lighting

Energy from the earth
and the sun

Since 2025, we have heated our greenhouse with geothermal energy, and we have installed solar panels on all our roofs. Our three double energy screens keep the heat in. Energy-efficient LED lighting keeps the roses growing well, even in the darker months. We keep a CHP unit on standby for when it is really needed.

Rows of Red Naomi! roses in the greenhouse

CO₂ with a second
life

Our plants receive CO₂ left over from industry in Rotterdam (OCAP). This turns a residual product into food for the rose.

A closed loop of water and nutrients

Our roses receive water from our own basin, filled with collected rainwater. The water the plants do not absorb is collected, filtered and reused, together with the nutrients it contains. This way, virtually nothing is lost. We keep the crop healthy with biological crop protection.

Innovation: UV light
against fungi

In our greenhouse, we use UV light to combat fungi such as powdery mildew. The light does its work at night, while the plants are at rest, and slows the growth of fungi in a natural way. As a result, we need far fewer crop protection products. Good for the plant and for the environment.

Air handling unit with an air duct in the greenhouse

A smart and
even climate

Air handling units (AHUs) create an optimal climate in our greenhouse. They blow dry outside air evenly between the plants, so we can remove moisture without losing heat. This saves energy, keeps the crop healthy and gives every rose the same growing conditions.

Demonstrably sustainable

We are certified under MPS-A and GAP. For us, sustainability is not a promise but a proven way of working.

Discover our collection

Every Red Naomi! from Van den Ende Roses is grown for the best experience for the consumer. A red rose that truly comes alive: it opens fully and stays beautiful in the vase for up to 14 days or longer. Its velvety red colour, subtle fragrance and elegant bloom make it unique.

Every day of the year, we cut our roses fresh by hand. They are then selected and graded to a strict quality standard. Every day we grade to the same fixed values, using a 3D camera, after which our team checks them once more.
